Who Gives A Crap?
Oh hi there, we’re Who Gives A Crap, nice to meet you.
We make beautifully packaged toilet paper, tissues and paper towels which are good for the planet, good for people and good for your bum. We’re a company with a mission. It’s pretty hard to imagine, but right now, 2.3 billion people don’t have access to a toilet. That’s 1 in 3 people. Which is nuts.
That’s why we need your help. We donate 50% of profits to charity partners who do the vital work of building toilets and improving sanitation in developing countries.
In FY20, we have donated AU$5.85 million (£3.25 million) to our charity partners, which makes a total of AU$8.4 million to date. All from the support of our partners and community.
Our products also fight deforestation. Unlike most paper products, ours are made from forest-friendly bamboo and recycled paper, keeping the trees in the forests, where they belong.
If you’re reading this, chances are you and your customers care about these (t)issues, too. While toilet paper might not seem big and mighty, this small switch will make a huge impact.
When you look at trees, you probably don’t think about toilet rolls. But did you know,
27,000 trees are cut down every day to make toilet paper? Plus this consumes loads of energy and water along the way.
We think that’s crap, we’re sure you would agree. (And your customers would too.)
Our products are made from either 100% recycled paper or 100% bamboo, both of which are environmentally sustainable, and also less water and energy intensive to produce. And it’s still super strong and soft as clouds. We call that a win win win situation.
Toilets are more important than you might think.
Poor sanitation has a terrible impact on the environment, but also causes serious illness, and if people get sick, they can’t work to feed their families or go to school. Not having access to sanitation isn’t just unpleasant, it’s devastating.
Luckily, toilets are proven to be a great solution—they provide dignity, health and an
improved quality of life. And in case that wasn’t enough, it’s been shown that a dollar invested in sanitation yields $5.50 in increased economic prosperity. Toilets are magical!
Our charity partners include WaterAid, Sanergy, SHOFCO and Lwala Community Alliance.
