Plastic Free July & A Free 1 Month Challenge•
Posted on June 26 2020
For one reason or another, many of us have decided to reduce our plastic usage, wanting to find ways to live better for the health of our planet and to secure a future with climate change reduction for more generations to come. Programmes such as Sir David Attenborough's Blue Planet has made such a vast impact on younger generations. many are seeking ways to play their part in making beautiful green ripples.
As you know my business, Ecological Footprints' focus is on plastic reduction, chemical reduction and using products that are biodegradable or compostable. For that reason, as a family we are partaking in Plastic Free July and as a business we will be focusing on showing you some easy to change products that you can sub out from your day-to-day life for plastic free alternatives.
You may decide to collect your old plastic items in a bag so that you can see at the end of the month the changes you have made or you may decide to make the changes as and when your old products run out. For me, the latter is the preferred as we don't like to waste. It would seem a pointless feat to have brought the products in the first place and then simply discard them, adding to the huge pollution problem.
Right, on to the challenge!
Below I have created a challenge (which you are welcome to share on your social media platforms, of course), each day in July is focussed on a different change you can make towards living a more plastic free lifestyle. As I have said, these changes don't have to be implemented straight away, but you can look at your favourite products, ready to change over when the old ones run out. Maybe you could put the products into a basket on the website to come back to at the end of the month?!
Some history on plastic free July.
Plastic Free July was created by Rebecca Prince-Ruiz (the founder of the Plastic Free Foundation) and a small team in local government in Western Australia, and is now one of the most influential environmental campaigns in the world.
Plastic Free July is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution – so we can have cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities. Plastic Free July provides resources and ideas to help you (and millions of others around the world) reduce single-use plastic waste everyday at home, work, school, and even at your local café.
The movement has inspired over 250 million participants in 177 countries. You making a small change will collectively make a massive difference to our communities. You can choose to refuse single-use plastics in July (and beyond!). Best of all, being part of Plastic Free July will help you to find great alternatives that can become new habits forever.
To help you implement the changes I would like to offer you a special discount code for use valid for ALL of July - Plastic3July. This will give you 20% off your order, with no minimum order value. Do consider carbon emissions, instead of placing lots of little orders, it would be better to place one complete order when you are ready.
